Laminate flooring is made up of 3 layers pressed together under high pressure and temperature. The first layer is a glued High-Density Fiberboard (HDF). This is covered by a “design layer”, which is a photo of wood or tiles printed on paper and submerged in melamine resin to make it look like real wood or tile. Then it is covered by a transparent protective layer. Lastly, the product has a wood or tile structure pressed into the top layer, so the texture of the flooring coincides with what it is made to look like.
